Chatuchak Weekend Market:

Chatuchak Weekend Market is the largest outdoor market in Thailand and maybe even worldwide. The market covers a total area of 35 acres. There are thousand of small stalls and shops selling furniture, art, clothing items & accessories, pets, food, souvenirs, household items, plants and much more. The center of the huge market area is a clock tower. At the entrance you have the possibility to buy a map, which makes it much easier for you to find your way around. Bargaining is expected, but the prices are generally much cheaper than at the regular shopping venues.

Pratunam Market:

Pratunam Market is located in the busy Pratunam district, close to the Panthip Plaza and Platinum Fashion Mall. It is one of Bangkok's major markets focusing on clothing, fabrics and textiles. It is a wholesale market and lots of Southeast Asians by wholesale here and sell them at retail prices in their home countries. If you buy 3 items and up you usually get a discount of 30% on the items, but wholesale also means you can't try it on.

Location: Exit Chidlom Station and turn north (right) at Gaysorn Plaza corner, walk past Big C and Central World to next intersection

Suan Lum Night Bazaar:

Suan Lum Night Bazaar  is a well-organized maze and usually not so crowded than other markets. You can expect a great range of items available, such as Thai handicrafts, clothing, bags, jewellery, lighting, cosmetics, creative gifts and even some boutique shops selling local designer fashion. There are lots of eateries and restaurants offering Thai & International food, as well as a beer garden to refresh and relax for a while. For your entertainment the bazaar has a concert venue, where musicians and bands play some great tunes. Take a ride with the ferry wheel and enjoy the views over Suan Lung Night Bazaar and the close-by area.

Patpong Night Market:

Patpong Night Market is located in the Patpong red light district, having its center at Soi Patpong I & II, but extends across many small side streets. Between Go-Go Bars and "Ping Pong" Shows you find clothing, watches, leather goods, silk, Thai handicraft and souvenirs. Most of the stalls and shops offer counterfeits of famous brand names. The market is very hectic and crowded and you should take good care at your belongings.

Location: Exit Sala Daeng Station on one of the right hand stairs and follow the street

Floating Markets:

Taling Chan Floating Market is located on the canal Khlong Chak Phra. It is a new attraction since floating markets had vanished entirely from Bangkok for quite some time. This market was initiated to honor King Bhumibol's 60th birthday in 1987. Here you can mainly buy orchard products, such as local fruits and vegetable, but also fish.
Location: Khlong Chak Phra District; Opening hours: weekends from 8:30 am until 04:00 am.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is in the Ratchaburi province about 100 km away from Bangkok. The market is located near the town of Damnoen Saduak in a maze of small canals. Buy some of the fresh fruits, vegetables, spices or Thai handicraft sold here. The best way to explore the market is to hire a long tail boat and driver and float through the canals. Travel agencies in Bangkok organize trips to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

Khao San Road/Banglamphu Market:

Khao San Road is known worldwide as a backpacker destination and became even more a tourist hotspot after the release of the Hollywood Blockbuster "The Beach". In this short road you find stalls and shops in between restaurants and bars selling crafts, paintings, clothes, pirate CD's and DVD's, food, second-hand books and more. Banglamphu market is around the corner from Khao San Road and caters to the younger hippie crowd. There you can shop for funky silver jewellery, hip clothes and accessories.

Location: Banglamphu District ( there is no BTS or MRT station close to the Khao San Road)
